Glass Bouquet
Part I of this class is making glass flower headpins using a variety of lampworking skills. Techniques include winding glass, dots, pulling, smashing, cutting, swiping, and more. This is a great intermediate lampworking class. Experimentation will be encouraged. Part II of this class, held on Sat. Nov. 7 from 10am-2pm, will be making seed bead “greenery” using French beaded flower techniques. Participants will then put their components together with floral tape and use a small “frog” to display their bouquet. Instructor: Karen Kubby. Prerequisite: Lampworking experience. Felting with Charlie: Bead Making through Kirkwood
This is a great introduction to needle felting. Take wool, a needle, and a bit of sweat equity and make a felted bead. Learn how to make a hole in your felted wool, how to add color, and how to increase the density of your bead. No experience needed. Sawing & Soldering
In this metal working class, learn some precision sawing techniques to create negative space. Take the shape just sawed out and solder it on the pendant to create texture. Plumes in Glass
This is an intermediate lampworking class. Participants will be encasing with clear, creating a pattern with layers of dots, and raking this pattern into a plume. Kumihimo Bracelet with Pinch Beads
Learn how to create a classic round braid on a kumihimo foam disk using pinch beads. The result is beautiful. This bracelet ends with bead caps and a lobster or spring ring. No experience needed. Tools needed are a kumihimo disk and 8 weighted bobbins. No experience needed. Next Steps in Boro Hollow Glass: Implosion Pendant
Learn to manipulate hollow boro glass to make a pendant. Create a blown bulb that you will decorate. Then “implode” it to create a lens that will magnify your embellishment.
