Artists need community. We’re at our best when we’re sharing our work, getting feedback from other artists, and finding opportunities to collaborate.

We’re interested in Tree of Liminality + Farmhouse Art Collective being a space for this to happen, and invite you to Art Chat with us on the Second Thursday of each month.

If you’re engaged in a creative process of any kind, such as visual art, writing, or performance, bring what you’re working on and we’ll talk about it.

Casual vibe. RSVPs encouraged. We can't wait to see what you're making.

This is a free event with a suggested $5 donation to our 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.

In this class you’ll learn how to make cyanotypes, a kind of sunprint named for its striking blue color.

It works by placing objects, such as plant materials, onto light-sensitive paper and exposing it to bright sunlight. After rinsing the paper in water, places where objects were blocking the light will be white on a background of blue.

You’ll need to bring your own plant materials to the class. Leaves and pressed flowers work well— anything that will lay relatively flat under a piece of glass. You can also bring other objects to experiment with, such as feathers or lace.

By the end of the class, you’ll leave with 6 cyanotype prints that can be framed as works of art or used in any paper craft.

If you’re interested in taking the class, but find ticket price to be a barrier, there are a limited number of spots available for volunteer assistants. Please contact Missa by email at [email protected] or phone 812-219-6119 for more information.

Missa has taught alternative photographic processes, including cyanotype, to a wide range of people, from casual art clubs to college classes. She is the shopkeeper at Tree of Liminality and cofounder of Farmhouse Art Collective.

Because this process requires bright sunlight, please note there will be a “rain date” on Saturday, April 19th from 2:00-4:00pm. If the class does have to be postponed due to weather, you’ll be notified by the morning of April 12th. Thanks for your understanding.

In this class you’ll learn about art-making that prioritizes the concept or idea of an artwork over traditional skills in painting or sculpture.

We’ll start with an overview of Contemporary Art movements and genres, such as Dada, the New School at Black Mountain College, Fluxus, Happenings, Performance Art, Installation Art and Social Practice. Our emphasis will be on art that can be thought of as either process or experience.

You’ll also have the opportunity to interact with some existing works of conceptual art and generate new creative work through an action you design.

As always, if ticket cost is a concern, there are a limited number of spots available for volunteers. Please contact Missa by email at [email protected] or by phone at 812-219-6119 for more information.
