Gallery Opening: Finding Form Anew: A Voice in Emergence
Join us for the opening reception of "Finding Form Anew: A Voice in Emergence" by artist, Kaos Kris, on Thursday, October 1st @ 5:00PM in the CSPS Main Gallery (2nd Floor). Admission is FREE! Finding Form Anew: A Voice in Emergence presents a body of work created during a period of profound rebuilding for artist Kaos Kris. Through CNC-carved wood, resin, and layered dimensional forms, the work explores resilience, rediscovery, and the emergence of a new artistic voice. After a traumatic brain injury changed the course of her life, Kris began rebuilding her creative practice from the ground up—teaching herself new tools, developing new processes, and finding new ways for her work to take form. Rather than presenting a finished destination, this exhibition captures a moment of emergence. It reflects an artist experimenting, learning, and rediscovering how her ideas can take shape in the world again. This work is what rebuilding a life looks like. 2026-09-18 18:30:00 -0500

Día de los Muertos

Artists and art lovers alike, join us for our 2nd annual Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) – a cultural tradition that brings communities together to honor the lives of those who have passed. Día de los Muertos is a joyful time filled with music, dance, feasts, and storytelling. Families create ofrendas (altars) decorated with marigolds, candles, sugar skulls (calaveras), photos, and favorite foods to welcome back the spirits of departed loved ones for a brief, symbolic reunion. Cultures all around the world have honored, celebrated, and grieved the passing of their loved ones through various traditional commemorations. Ancient Celtic traditions such as Samhain marked the time when the veil between the living and the spirit world grew thin, while modern Wiccan and pagan beliefs look toward Summerland as a peaceful afterlife realm of rest and renewal. Similarly, ancient observances like the Norse Álfablót offered sacrifices and remembrance to local spirits and deceased ancestors. Ancient Greek festivals like the Chalkeia or specific harvest rites such as the Anthesteria and Thesmophoria (sometimes associated with events such as the Wag Festival) are historically connected communities with the cycles of life, death, and agricultural rebirth.
