Event Description

The History Center invites the community to join in on ORAL HISTORIES LIVE! offering interviews with influential members of Linn County who share their stories and preserve legacies. Mary Sharp was The Gazette's metro-Iowa editor for 16 years, from 1994 through 2010, before retiring and then coming back as a part-time editor before retiring, for the second time, earlier this year. Sharp directed The Gazette's coverage of the 2008 flood, one of the most challenging times in the newspaper's 143-year history. She's got stories, triumphs and failures, and counts herself lucky to have worked with a talented staff as they wrote the first draft of Eastern Iowa's history. Come find out why you should be supporting your local newspaper, website and journalists. Also, there will be cookies. Admission is $8.00 General Public, $6.00 Members This program takes place at The History Center (800 2nd Ave SE) Doors Open 5:30 p.m. Program Starts at 6:00 p.m. Oral Histories LIVE! is generously sponsored by Mike Wilson.
