Global Ties Iowa is honored to partner with Global Ties U.S. and the U.S. Department of State's Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs to host the Diplomacy Begins Here Regional Summit in Cedar Rapids & Iowa City, Iowa on October 3, 2025. The Diplomacy Begins Here Summits bring together leaders from business, government, and nonprofit sectors to create connections, build professional networks, and bring attention to the critical role that public and citizen diplomacy programs play in advancing U.S. foreign policy goals. Open to the general public, the Diplomacy Begins Here Regional Summit on Friday, October 3 will focus on innovations in space exploration, artificial intelligence, and more. International collaboration and partnerships are critical to supporting the vast fields of space, science, AI, and innovation. Summit speakers will discuss how their work fosters peaceful cooperation, mutual understanding, and global citizenship through our shared curiosity about our place in the universe. Focus areas for session programming will include: Space Exploration Economic Development in Science & Technology Science Entrepreneurship AI & Innovation
