Event Description

"HODGEPODGE,” a show of photographic collages, digital creations, and compositions on cloth and paper by Annadora Khan, will be at the ArtiFactory Gallery through October. The opening reception is Friday Oct.3 from 5-8 p.m. as part of the city’s Fall Gallery Walk. The show reflects the artist’s eclectic approach to making art. Ann describes it as “a visual jumble of old and new work, reflecting my layered aesthetic and ongoing exploration of image, texture, and form. It’s not about a single theme—it’s about the mix.” About her work in general, she says, “My work is eclectic by nature…I create intuitively, choosing materials based on what best serves the final outcome. I’m more of a doer than a planner; ideas take shape through the act of making.” Annadora Y. Khan is a multidisciplinary artist and digital media specialist whose career bridges traditional art, digital innovation, and public service. She holds an MA and MFA in Art and Art History from the University of Iowa, where she also completed 30 hours of coursework in the School of Mass Communication and Journalism. Her academic path led to teaching art classes and later to a transformative role in the University of Iowa Main Library’s Information Arcade—a computer lab where she mastered Photoshop and other creative software, transitioning her practice from works on paper to digital art. She’s worked at the Main Library for the past 27 years, helping library patrons navigate a wide range of software tools and technologies. Ann has also founded her own press and published two digital books. She is a proud member of the Pleiades Gallery, New York City's oldest artist cooperative, where she held a solo exhibition in 2005. The Gallery is open Wednesday and Friday 4-6 p.m. and Saturday 1-3 p.m., or by appointment on the website (artifactory.artsiowacity.org). Admission is free.
